Hailey Matheson

Our sweet little girl Hailey was super lovable, smart and funny. Kind and curious. She had a big heart and a big smile. Hailey loved her family. She was the youngest of three sisters, our baby. Hailey was known for her giggles and laughs and silly noises. She knew how to make us smile and taught us to be adventurous, kind and humble.
Our hearts ache each day that has passed without her in it. We have found many ways to honor her by remembering her. Sharing stories about Hailey, pictures, planting flowers and trees in her memory. We began last spring to hold a children’s book drive each year in her memory for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh .
Hailey is deeply missed by her family and friends.
Hailey enjoyed taking pictures and wanted to be a photographer and a Mommy when she grew up. She loved many kinds of foods, especially seafood. When she was a baby we started to call her Baby Bird because she would always want to try what was on someone else’s plate.
She enjoyed reading, riding her bike and horses, Girl Scouts, and snuggles. She enjoyed hiking and taking walks with our dog Elliot. I think her favorite thing was to play Breyer horses with her sister Mia, or with her dolls and stuffed animal buddies, and taking trips to visit her older sister Kira.
We know each day is a gift, and tomorrow’s are never promised. Hailey loved life, and we take comfort in knowing that she absolutely knew happiness and love. We pray the 5 recipients of Hailey’s final gifts are able to love and enjoy life as she did.
Life will never be the same without our Baby Bird. We will always feel her absence in every moment that passes. Eight years will never have been enough. Time is a thief. We can take comfort in knowing that we will be reunited in the end.
We can take comfort in knowing that through donation we were able to give someone else and their family more precious time together.
