In Memory of
💙 Donor Hero Richard G. Kennedy
Always give so that others may live.
Today we honor Donor Hero Richard G. Kennedy, a man whose life was defined by love, hard work, faith, generosity, and an unwavering desire to help others. 💙
Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and proud coal miner. Coal mining was more than a job to him—it was his passion and a part of who he was. He began working in the mines before finishing high school and spent more than three decades working in and around the coal industry. He worked underground, drove coal trucks, operated equipment, and trained many new miners beginning their own careers.
Richard believed that if someone trusted him enough to give him a job, he owed them his very best. He gave 100% of himself to everything he did. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and willingness to help others earned him the respect of the people who worked alongside him.
But the greatest measure of Richard’s life was not found in the work he did. It was found in the lives he touched.
He was the man who stood in his wife’s kitchen, held her in his arms, and prayed for her every day. He was a husband who spent nearly four decades making the woman he loved feel cherished. He was a father and grandfather who loved his family deeply and took great pride in them.
Richard also believed in giving back. He quietly helped people in his community, cooked meals for others, helped families in need, and gave his time whenever he saw someone who needed a hand. He never seemed to ask what he would receive in return. Giving was simply part of who he was.
That spirit of giving did not end with his life.
Richard became an organ donor through the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE), allowing his final act on this earth to be an act of the same selflessness that defined his life.
For his family, there is tremendous sorrow in knowing that Richard is no longer here. We miss his voice, his laughter, his hugs, his prayers, and the comfort of knowing he was always there.
But alongside that grief is an incredible sense of pride.
Richard spent his life helping people. In the end, he gave one more precious gift—the gift of life and the possibility of more time for others and the people who love them. ❤️
His work on earth may have ended, but his legacy has not.
It lives on in his family, in the people he helped throughout his life, in the coal miners he mentored, in the community he served, and now in the lives touched by his final gift.
Richard always said he would love me “forever and a day.”
And that is exactly how long he will be loved.
Forever loved.
Forever remembered.
Forever a hero. 🕊️💙
